January 2018 Update

Happy New Year!

I do hope you have all had a fantastic Christmas and New Year! 2018 already...

We had a great year in 2017 and hope to have the same success this year.

The start of the year has bought singing exams which had be postponed due to the snow in December and pupils took their LCM Music Theatre exams on 15 Jan - we await results which I'm sure will be great. We had our IDTA exam session at the start of December 2017. We have received the results now - all Merits and Distinctions so well  done to everyone who took an exam (or two)! There shall be a presentation afternoon on Sunday 28 January 2018 (time TBC) at Coundon Social Club where pupils can show families and friends' their work and receive their certificates and awards.

A Christmas Concert took place on Saturday 16 December. It was a chance to see singing pupils and our glee group perform examination pieces, songs they had been working on in class and Christmas songs to get us in the Christmas mood and it certainly did. It was very successful - a raffle for Bloodwise raised £50 -  so I'm sure there will be other concerts in the future.

We are booked to perform at Earlsdon Festival on Monday 7 May at 1pm. More information to follow for pupils who will be involved in the coming weeks.

News

Our Assistant Teacher, Miss Laura and senior pupil, Lucy W performed in Jack and the Beanstalk at the Albany Theatre in last week - well done to them both for great performances. This May, we have some pupils performing in YOG's production of AIDA and Jess D and Lucy H perform in Annie at the Belgrade Theatre - be sure to book your tickets as they are selling fast!.

Ella, Lucy H, and Lauren D continue their studies at BOA - Birmingham Ormiston Academy last term. They are all pupils on the KS4 Musical Theatre Pathway. Abbie S is also attending BOA on their Technical Theatre Course. It sounds like they are really enjoying it and there are other pupils preparing to audition this new year for September 2018 intake.

Miss Jill attended an Estill Voice Training course in Cardiff during the week of October half term last year. It was very interesting and some of what she has learnt is now being applied and introduced to singing lessons to help with the development of singing voices and vocal health.

We are hoping to introduce a couple of new classes after February half term:

Junior Musical Theatre

Senior Theatrecraft

Please let me know if you would like more information.
